Perched high above Melbourne, Cloud Residence reinterprets luxury living with serene minimalism, sculptural artistry, and an elevated perspective—offering sanctuary among the sky.

As one of the highest residences in Australia, the golden sunset light becomes the most essential material in the space—transforming surfaces, casting shadows, and immersing the interior in warmth each evening. Here, design and atmosphere converge, creating a living environment that is at once elevated, calm, and deeply connected to its surroundings.

Anchored by floor-to-ceiling glass, the open living and dining space was curated to embody the sensation of floating above the city. In the dining area, the WuDai Walnut Dining Table by Wei Wu for Studio BASE is paired with the Diiva Swivel Stools by Grazia & Co and complemented by the Gubi Matégot Trolley. A striking Ethnicraft Mahogany Zuil Sculpture from Front Room Gallery and the artwork Luminescence by Robbie Harmsworth via Studio Gallery bring warmth, rhythm, and visual focus to the space.

In the living area, the Spin Sectional Sofa by HC28 via DOMO forms a soft, cloud-like base, paired with the Ivy Coffee Table by architect Clare Cousins for Grazia & Co. A pair of Oyster Armchairs by Jörg Boner for Wittmann via DOMO and a Kartell Thierry Side Table by Piero Lissoni via Space Furniture create sculptural vignettes, while the Asola Floor Lamp in vert bronze from Lignet Roset adds subtle, elegant illumination. Expressive artworks and curated objects anchor the space, giving intimacy and texture amidst its lofty perspective.

A calm, moody retreat from the city below is the brief for the master bedroom. The deep, textured upholstery of the bedhead and soft layering of bedding set a serene tone, complemented by the sculptural Arflex Botolo Armchair by Cini Boeri via Space Furniture—a quiet, inviting spot to read or relax while enjoying the view. Muted tones, plush textiles, and subtle metallic accents in the side tables and lamps create warmth and tactility without overwhelming the space, allowing the expansive cityscape to remain the focus.

The second bedroom continues the theme of calm, restful simplicity, with carefully layered textiles and minimal yet considered furniture to create a sense of comfort and escape. In the home office, the AS1C Table Lamp by Nemo—a 1969 design combining clean linear forms with hand-blown glass diffusers—casts a soft, refined glow over the workspace.

Together, these spaces emphasise the balance between intimacy and openness, layering materiality, light, and form to create a series of calm, moody escapes that harmonise with the ethereal, cloud-like ambience of the main living areas.

Ultimately, Cloud Residence isn’t simply about space—it’s about the sensation of floating. It invites you in, even as it looks outward. The styling, the rhythm of spaces, and the light all coalesce to offer a refined, calm, and celestial experience—what living in the clouds might truly feel like.
