When Jonathan and Alicia approached us to furnish their newly renovated townhouse, their brief was clear: create a tranquil home rooted in Japanese minimalism while honouring their collection of objects and art gathered through travel.

With a neutral foundation of oak joinery, wool carpet and Carrara marble, we embraced the home’s architectural softness and introduced furnishings that would feel equally considered. The challenge was to balance restraint with personality—layering refined pieces with a touch of the unexpected.

The Artie buffet in powder blue and the perforated Diiva dining chairs from Grazia & Co for the dining were thoughtfully chosen and customised to further enhance this narrative. This space also features two KAWS puzzles from the client’s personal collection which acted as a focal point when designing this room.

Considering the sliding doors in the living room and master bedroom is East facing, there is a generous amount of natural light that pours into the home. Keeping this in mind, we wanted to incorporate linen window furnishings to balance the temperature all year round and add a touch of softness to the space.

In the living space the furniture had to play a key role in form and comfort. We were immediately drawn to the functional and practical nature of the Tufty Time which enabled us to play around with different modules and configurations to suit the narrow living footprint. Considering this is a space where the clients would spend a lot of time together as a family, the focus was to create a fun relaxing atmosphere. One of the key things we gathered from our clients from the onset was that colour brings them joy, and so we wanted to juxtapose the muted tones with splashes of colour. Introducing pieces such as the Kartell Undique Mas Round Coffee Table and the customised Ridley armchair added a sense of depth and playfulness to achieve this.

The home office, meanwhile, offers a more grounded, masculine tone, drawing from the overarching palette with subtle references to colour and materiality.

In the guest bedroom, the aim was to maintain a clean, simple, and soft aesthetic. The Harper upholstered linen bed was paired with steel blue Trung side tables, while the Foscarini Binic table lamps by Ionna Vautrin were selected to add personality and evoke a sense of playful nostalgia.

With a need for more storage in the master bedroom, we specified the Promenade Grand bed from King Living, combining functionality with a minimalist approach under the philosophy of "less is more." Paired with the forest green bedhead are the Rotate Trolley SC73 side tables, perfectly suited for compact spaces and easily movable with its concealed wheels. To act as a sculptural layer the Pivot table lamps from CULT were chosen for it’s material and functional property of lighting a space with ambient and natural light.

Bluebell House was designed to evoke childhood memories - where colour, shapes and texture speak with intention. It’s a space that balances soft layering with playful contrasts, inviting new ways of imagining a whimsical living environment.

“My husband and I chose Furnishd to assist with curating furniture for our new home because they were flexible with design choices based on just the plan drawings. Inaya did an amazing job selecting pieces that perfectly captured our desired vibe, which was a blend of Japanese and Scandinavian aesthetics. Furnishd also helped with purchasing the furniture items and passed along some of the trade discounts to us. Connie, Wayne, Inaya and Heidi have all been incredibly understanding of our situation, and we can't thank them enough. We absolutely love our new home!”
